Mary Bonnet says Nicole Young butchered Emma Hernan rumor in explosive ‘Selling Sunset’ season: ‘Not what was said’
“Selling Sunset” star Mary Bonnet says Nicole Young butchered a rumor about castmate Emma Hernan when repeating it on the current installment of the Netflix reality hit.
“Honestly, that’s not even the actual story of what she was actually told. So that makes it even more sad. It’s just a big old mess,” Bonnet, 44, tells Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast while promoting Season 8 and her upcoming memoir, “Selling Sunshine: Surviving Teenage Motherhood, Thriving in Luxury Real Estate and Finally Finding My Voice.”
Elaborating on Young’s claim that Hernan, 32, was romantically involved with a married man, the new author emphasizes, “That’s not what was said.”
While Hernan hasn’t directly addressed the drama, her bestie Chrishell Stause has railed against “disgusting” executive producer Adam DiVello — who helms the unscripted series with Done and Done Productions — for allegedly not giving the Emma Leigh & Co. empanadas founder an opportunity to defend herself on camera.
“Are we really still giving air time to LIARS that just want air time. I will NEVER work on a show with her on it again. I would rather be sued,” Stause, 43, said via her Instagram Story days before the show premiered on Sept. 6.
“Disclaimer when you watch: just know she spews a disgusting lie about a bestie that is categorically FALSE and SUPER damaging. It is NOT TRUE.”
It is not clear what information was actually shared behind closed doors, but Stause has suggested that someone’s husband simply hit on Hernan to no avail — a far cry from what Young, 38, relayed during a cast dinner for which Stause and Hernan were not present.
Bonnet, for her part, has maintained tight friendships with all parties — and she plans to remain neutral amid the discord.
“It’s WWIII for sure,” she admits. “I’m out of this one.”
The real estate pro elaborates, “They all know I love them and it’s not my business. I’m focused on what I’m doing and being positive … They can do whatever they want. I still love them.”

However, Bonnet wonders if Young is equipped to handle Strause’s wrath.
“I feel bad for her because I don’t think she knows what’s coming,” she says. “Chrishell, she will take you and drag you all the way down [to hell] herself if you mess with her or somebody she loves — especially someone she loves.”
As Young and Stause continue to trade barbs online, an unbothered Bonnet is focused on the forthcoming release of her literary debut.
“Selling Sunshine” gives fans an in-depth look at her life before “Selling Sunset” — including her journey as a money-strapped teen mom, her healing process after surviving sexual assault and the unexpected path she took to achieve fame and financial success.
“There’s so many things I’ve been through. I thought if I can take these difficult times and … help people in some way or show people you can get through this — because most of the time we feel like we can’t — it was worthy sharing,” she explains.
“Everything is temporary. And it always gets better, I can promise you that.”
“Selling Sunset” is available to stream on Netflix. “Selling Sunshine” hits bookstores on Sept. 24.
