Brooke Shields’ buzzy memoir is finally out — here’s how to listen for $1

When it comes to growing up in the spotlight, Brooke Shields quite literally wrote the book on it.

The iconic model’s latest memoir, “Brooke Shields is Not Allowed to Get Old”: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman,” dropped on Thursday — and shoppers can currently pick up the hardcover edition for 30% off.

Should you prefer to hear it straight from Shields herself, the 59-year-old star also narrates her own Audible audiobook, available to stream with a subscription to the extensive platform.

New Audible Premium Plus members can take advantage of a limited-time offer and get three months of Audible right now, including three book credits, for $0.99/month.

The hot release chronicles Shields journey from growing up a child actor to becoming CEO of her haircare company Commence at 58 — with plenty of candid observations on aging in between.

“When does a woman’s confidence peak? What actually happens with her scalp and body? It’s not all horrible,” Shields said in a recent book talk at Flow Space, per People. “There’s a joy in realizing you’ve made it this far and wanting to do more.”

“The book became an exploration of talking to women over 40, looking at marketing, the beauty industry, how we’re treated and perceived by advertisers — not just entertainment, but in everyday life. I was shocked by the little representation we have.”

The star’s had plenty of frank conversations about aging and internet trolls while promoting the project; on Monday, she told Good Morning America she’d received a comment on an Instagram Live saying, “really wish you looked the way you used to.”

“I thought boy, we’re all so out of touch,” she responded. “We need to find joy in this.”

In addition to her new book on aging, Shields has penned multiple memoirs over the years — including “There Was a Little Girl: The Real Story of My Mother and Me” and “Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression,” both also available to stream on Audible.
